Set against a historic backdrop
A summer resort with soul
Hotel Anders took its name from the surname of a Prussian aristocrat and industrialist, the former owner of the hotel's current palace section – Richard Anders, who lived at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Richard Anders made a career in a truly American fashion - he owned vast forest estates and many sawmills - he was called "the East Prussian king of timber".
At the beginning of the 20th century his sawmill in Stare Jabłonki employed over 100 people, and in his villa on Lake Szeląg Mały he established a summer residence, where he received guests. Today it constitutes the palace part of Hotel Anders.

Queen of the forest - Taborska Pine
Stare Jabłonki are located amid the centuries-old Taborskie Forests, whose undisputed queen is the Tabor Pine. The Tabor Pine is protected by a nature reserve in nearby Taborz – it is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the area. The area's specific microclimate causes the pines that grow in Stare Jabłonki to develop distinctive qualities – they are tall, have few knots, and their growth rings are fine. Thanks to this, during the age of geographic discoveries they became renowned as the best shipbuilding timber in the world – masts of ships flying under almost every European ensign were built from the wood of Taborskie Pines.
Appreciated for centuries
Columbus and Napoleon
Maybe Christopher Columbus himself sailed under the Masurian mast? In the era of overseas voyages of the 15th and 16th centuries, the value of the Taborska Pine can be compared to today's value of crude oil, which is why pines attracted the interest of spies and intelligence services.
The Taborska Pine was also appreciated by Napoleon himself, who resided at the castle in Ostróda in 1807. Perhaps he also strolled beneath our Pine?
At the 1900 World's Fair in Paris, the Taborska Pine enjoyed great interest from merchants – it was exhibited under the name 'Bois de Tabore' (wood from Taborz) and advertised as the world's finest pine material.
After World War II, the wood of the Taborska Pine was used to rebuild the National Theatre in Warsaw and to construct the pier in Sopot.
a distinctive feature of the landscape
Welcome to the Land of Apple Trees
In Stare Jabłonki, an apple is indispensable. The village name and tradition oblige and… inspire. Apple trees have for centuries been a characteristic feature of Stare Jabłonki's landscape. The intoxicating scent of apple trees in full bloom, bees busily working in the sunlight, and fragrant, delicious apples dominated the village scenery. Stare Jabłonki, full of flowering apple trees, was surrounded by a primeval forest of monumental Tabor Pines. For centuries the trees have been the village's most precious treasure. Therefore the apple and the apple trees are a natural part of our existence.
